3D – Printed Vertebra Implant


Although this is another example of 3-d printing, this one is significant because successful long-term observation of for this operation would prove the viability of 3-d printed bone implants anywhere in the body. This operation replaced a vertebra in a 12-year-old patient who had cancer in his spinal cord. This replacement will not require cement or screws and is expected to grow in with natural growth and become a permanent part of the boy’s spine.
